The following were the first officers elected and appointed for Longmont Lodge #1055; Exalted Ruler, Grant E. Halderman; Est. Leading Knight, William P. Hogarty; Est. Loyal Knight, George W. Johnson; Est. Lecturing Knight Edward C. Cauble; Secretary, J. N. McLellan; Treasurer, Charle E. Day; Tiler, Harry Tallman; Trustee, one year, Dr. Charles F. Cole; Organist, Albert E. Whitney.

The Lodge occupied many halls during the early years of its existence, before any decision was made to build their own Home. In the fall of 1923, during

George W. Pollard’s term as Exalted Ruler, George W. Johnson told the Lodge of a wonderful dream that he had about a Home for the Elks. Brother Johnson, in his usual eloquent manner, described the Home he had dreamed of, and this seemed to be the spark that ignited the enthusiasm of the members.

During the early months of 1924, the Lodge voted to build a home and purchased the lots where the present home is located. During Brother Vern Allen’s administration, 1924 and 1925, a finance committee and building committee were appointed to work out plans of financing and getting blueprints, etc., in order. Dr. John Andrew was appointed chairman of each of these committees, and it was through his untiring efforts that the plans were finally completed.

During the month of February 1925, ground was broken for the Home, and the Home was dedicated October 29, 1925, during Brother Fred Sager’s administration. The mortgage was burned on October 11th, 1944.

From this time on, many officers and members contributed toward keeping the Lodge intact. Throughout the “rough” years, the Lodge continuing to grow and prosper under good guidance and laid away reserves, which has made Longmont Lodge #1055 what it is today.
